20-20 Vision
I started seeing the eye doctor when I was diagnosed with diabetes at the ripe old age of 12. I had 20-15 vision when I started seeing him and I never had any problems. Lately I've noticed things that are far away have been hard for me to read. Don't ask me which hymn we're singing in sacrament meeting because I can't see it. I've always liked trying other people's glasses just to see how you look in them. I always thought about getting fake glasses just to look smarter when I wanted to. One day at work I tried on Libby's glasses and realized I could see things I could not see without them. Colors were brighter, I could read the sign that was 5 feet from my face, and I could even tell you what time the clock said it was. It was a joke. Well luckily my husbands got the hookup and he set me up to see one of his doctors. Turns out I need glasses! Imagine that. He asked what I would prefer glasses or contacts. I picked contacts so he had his receptionist show me how to put them in and take them out. Let me just say, having this sweet girls hands in my eye wasn't great. It went fairly well though so I can't complain. You know what didn't go well? Me taking them out last night. It took me 40 minutes. Tears were uncontrollably streaming down my face. David was laughing at me in the doorway and my mouth was open as wide as it could go in concentration. They were not easy to get out but I have to say the difference in my vision when I wear them makes it worth it. I can see street names that I always just referred to as "the street with that school". Who knew they had names? Psssh, not me. Its like I'm seeing the world for the first time. Its been bad for months but I never realized how bad. This morning putting them in didn't take me as long as I thought it would, however, it still took long enough I did not have time to do my hair so sorry people that saw me at work. My eyes have felt all day like somethings in them. I wonder why. (That was sarcastic people. They feel that way because something is in them.) Its uncomfortable but not terrible. My eyes feel more tired then they normally do and dryer but I think they'll get used to this new addition. All day long I've felt like I should tell people "I know I look different, its because I'm wearing contacts. Oh you didn't notice? How rude of you." I feel so different wearing them. I'm dreading taking them out tonight. As long as I come in under an hour I'm going to consider it a success. :]

Our (pathetic) Christmas Tree
This year we didn't even get our Christmas tree until last weekend so it hasn't really felt like Christmas around here. We still haven't gotten all the gifts we need to and only a quarter of our decorations got put up. We're definitely slackers. Don't give us too hard of a time, David's been sick for a month and I'm busy starting a new job. Oh ok, give us a hard time. I sound ridiculous. Once we got our tree we spent a while cutting it down to size and trying to avoid being stabbed to death. Its the sharpest tree ever, I swear! The next day David got the lights out and started hanging them on the tree. Our tree isn't that full but its pretty wide so we ran out of lights about 3 quarters of the way up. Haha it looks pretty funny. We decided since Christmas is literally almost over we wouldn't hang our decorations. This year we will just have a naked, 3 quarter lit tree. I feel pretty good about it. Judge for yourself

Happy 10 Years
You've been in my life for 10 years today and I just had to say Happy Anniversary. You were the last thing I expected at the time but you came sweeping right in and changed my life forever. We have definitely been through some rough times together but the last few years have been ok. We've reached an understanding. However, I hate that you are so controlling. You can change my mood faster then the speed of light and then I have to fight tooth and nail to be happy again. You and I are more attached then anyone or anything else in my life. Since you're here to stay I had to learn how to make the best of it. I give you the appropriate amount of attention you require and for the most part you stay happy. If you're happy, I'm happy. I bend over backwards to make sure you're happy, do you ever cut me any breaks? No. But I'm not going to change you so I've accepted you as you are. I am grateful for the lessons you've taught me and for the maturity I know I wouldn't have without you. Since the young age of 12 you've been by my side, pushing me to try harder and never slack. You don't hold back if I slack and I finally learned it was just easier to stop slacking. To say I've enjoyed our life together would be a joke but do I spend my time thinking about how much I hate you? No. So thank you diabetes for helping me figure you out. It took 10 years but I think I have a handle on our relationship. Here's to the rest of our lives together.

New Beginnings
Start my new job tomorrow. Nervous? Yes. Its like the first day of school all over again. New people, new responsibilities, new fears. I really am happy where I'm at now (with the few exceptions that come with any job) and I'm worried I'm not going to love the new job. I'm going to name the positives (again) to help myself feel better about it.
1. I hope to never see 4:36am again. I'm going back to that time not even existing.
2. The 20 mile round trip versus the 50 I'm doing currently.
3. The opportunity to learn and grow in ways I wouldn't if I didn't move onward and upward.
Why can't I think of more then that?? I've got to drop this fear and jump right in to my new reality. Its been 2 years since I've started anything new so I'm nervous, but if anyone can handle it, its me. Wish me luck!

So cute I might die
I know I've told you guys before but I seriously love kids. They say and do the funniest things. The other day at work I had a little 7 year old boy from India who was getting his tonsils out ask me this question.. (Indian accent) "Now how are you going to do it? Do you just take them out with your hands or...?" I've never laughed so hard in my life. Yes little boy, lean your head right over here and I'll just reach down there! I spend a lot of my time between work and my primary class laughing. Yesterday in my primary class I got a little note from Paige in my class. It looked like this..
I'm not sure why she called me Lisy but I'll take it. Love her guts. How adorable is this note? I'm also not sure which picture is supposed to be mine but either way I'm gorgeous! I'm so sad I'm losing them to the older class and the end of this month. I will, however, never forget how cute they are because you better believe I'll be keeping this note forever!

New Adventure
I got a new job! I've worked where I am now for 2 years and I'm really excited for the change. I'll still be checking patients in so pretty much its just a new location with a few changes. As every change in life I'm excited and nervous. I'm excited for...
1. Cutting my drive in half!
2. Getting to go to bed at a normal hour and perhaps even with my husband
3. Change of scenery
4. The new people I will meet and the new things I will learn
I'm nervous for...
1. Not knowing my job perfectly
2. Not knowing and being friends with everyone in the area
3. Not having my mom right downstairs (how weird does that sound? I am a big girl I swear. I've worked without her my whole life, but the last 2 years have been great and I'll miss seeing her everyday)
4. The new systems I have to be trained on
I do feel like this came at the perfect time and I know I'm blessed with this change. Its not a children's hospital so I'll miss the kids a lot but like I said its a new adventure and I'm sure there will be many new things I love. I start in 2 weeks so I'll let you know how it goes!
