Happy Birthday to....ME!

I'm 22! Such a big deal. I had a perfect birthday. If I had my way I would celebrate all month, David wasn't havin that so I had to settle for just the weekend before. Saturday we started the day with a VERY early temple session with my mom. It was great. We went to breakfast at Village Inn (side note, I love Village Inn. I could eat their breakfast for every meal of the day. We went to a little dive on Friday with David's family and I was craving some breakfast. I barely kept that meal down, it was terrible. Village Inn the next morning totally made up for it and started the weekend off right!) and then dropped David off before my mom and I went shopping. My mom had asked David what I was in need of and David came up with...new bras. Ok he has a point. I hate bra shopping so I refuse to go but really my husband talking to my mom about my bras? Am I the only one that finds that awkward? Yes? Ok well I do. She bought me a new cardigan and a gorgeous gaudy ring. Then we bought 4 new bras which BTW none of them look good so I'll be back where I started when I take them all back. She took me home and I took off to go to Kellee's baby shower. When I got home David was laying on the couch relaxing. He told me he had the whole night planned. He said I needed to look in the pantry, fridge, and freezer. When I looked this is what I found...All my favorites! He's the best. After threatening Stuart and Kateka we made dinner plans with them and took off for CPK. It was great. I wanted to see the new movie Going the Distance but I got the dates wrong and its not out yet..much to the boys relief. We went mini golfing instead. I haven't been mini golfing since I was like 9 maybe. It was incredible. Kateka and I made a bet with the boys that we could beat them in mini golf and when we did we would get to pick the movie that night. BIG mistake. Never bet against David in golf. He is an animal. A little out of control if you ask me. He won and Kateka and I tried to fight him saying it was our birthdays and that tromped everything but he wouldn't give. Come on right? We couldn't decide on a movie so we just watched YouTube videos all night. It was perfect. Alright, this picture. First of all its amazing. Second of all, we were posing with our golf clubs! David totally messed up this shot because my camera was dying and he was in a hurry. Now we just look like freaks.

Sunday we had my birthday dinner at Wendy's house. She asked what I wanted and I picked meatloaf. We got a little held up when Austin put the hot corn on the glass table outside and it got a little hot and shattered. "But its my BIRTHDAY" I yelled. No problem. The rolls had little shards of glass in them, I would have still eaten them. ;] No, Wendy threw them all away and Stef and I ran to the store to get some rolls from Wal-Mart. The rest of the dinner was fine so we ate outside and laughed. Favorite part of the dinner? The banana cream pie Wendy made for me. It was great!

Yesterday was the big day. I had switched shifts at work because someone took it off and so I worked the 5am. 5:05am my mom comes waltzing in my office. She's like "What are you doing here! I thought that was your car! I wanted you to come in and have your desk decorated!" She was so bummed that I was already there, however, that didn't stop her from decorating my desk around me. haha. Then Jocelyn brought cupcakes. They were delish. We ordered pizza for lunch since it was a special occasion (celebrating me). When I got back up from lunch Jocelyn was like "Here Liz, put these wristbands in your drawer." I didn't question it and I opened my drawer to fine a itunes gift card! Is she kidding? I've worked with her for 3 weeks. How adorable is that. I told her I already fail at her birthday, which is by the way is Oct 30. I don't know how I'm going to make her day as great as she made mine. I'll have to figure it out! When David got home from work he took me to sushi. Then I checked fbook to see that I had like 50 posts on my wall saying happy birthday. I felt so loved from all my pretend internet friends. haha But seriously between that and all the texts I got I realized I have seriously great friends. It was an amazing birthday and I only have 364 days til my next one!

Weddings and Babies

This summer has been a packed one. We've had 5 friend weddings and family and friends all around us are having babies! What have David and I done this summer you might ask...gone to a bunch or showers, wedding dinners, and baby blessings all over the state. We were too busy to do anything else or have any exciting news. Sorry.

4 of the 5 weddings we had this summer were within a week of each other! 2 were on the same night. Don't worry, we wedding hopped. What a night that was. We started at my friend Erin's wedding. I grew up in the same young women group with this girl. There were several hilarious sleepless nights at those YW sleepovers. I met her husband Zane for the first time that night and you could see that they're happy together for sure. Adorable.
Suz's wedding was next that night. She and her husband deserve a magazine dedicated to them. I can't even tell you how perfect they look together. Models in every sense of the word. Hold on I'm going to steal a picture to show you so you know I'm not exaggerating.
RIGHT? Ok, pick your jaws up off the floor and lets keep moving. Ok, I'd like to talk about how crazy I look in this picture! haha, literally I look like I've lost it. At least I look like I'm happy about losing it. Extremely excited about it actually. This is Kellee, me and Emily dancing at Suz's wedding and can I just tell you how much fun it was. Well, I don't need to tell you. Just look at my face in this picture. I had fun :]

We went to a baby blessing last Sunday for my cousin Scott and his wife Heather's new nugget. Her name is Cami and she's beautiful! Are you ready for the worst news ever? I forgot my camera that day! Blow. I was so mad. I didn't get any pictures of that little angel in her huge blessing dress but you've got to take my word for it. She's so cute! Trish was there with her little men. Right as she got there both the babies were screaming in their car seats. I, being the generous person I am, helped her by getting Jace out. For the rest of the time we were there we just passed the babies back and forth. I held Cami while my mom had Jace and my Aunt Chris had Mateo. Then it felt like we just rotated to the right. Suddenly I was holding Jace and I didn't even know how it happened! Haha I loved every minute of it. Here are the only 2 pictures from the day that I'm stealing from Trish.

This was right when they got there and Jace had been screaming
This was my second round with Jace. I think it was the longest I've held him while he was just sleeping. Probably about 30 minutes! I know but its a big deal for these boys!

Abby had Owen on the 20th of August. Can I just say holding a baby that is as fresh as 12 hours is one of my favorite activities. I went to the hospital the day he was born and got to hold him for like 2 hours straight. He slept the entire time. But he is ADORABLE! I died. We're missing Olivea to make their family whole but can we just talk about how cute they are? (and I'm just saying, Abby is out of control gorgeous for just pushing that child out of her tiny body)

Who's next? Kellee Zank! Isn't she the cutest prego lady ever? Seriously, I'm going to be so unhappy when I'm pregnant because I can not touch the level of adorableness she's on. 2 more weeks! Can't wait to meet "baby princess"

Where are they now?

As a child I had a few idols. They are famous. I still check up on them every once in a while and see how they're doing now. Yesterday I was disappointed with what I found..

Cinderella. At least her dress still looks flawless.

Really Snow White?

Jasmine watch out behind you!

Ariel (although I'm upset by this, it makes me crave sushi.)

Backstabbed

Today I'm having some thoughts. I have to get them out and so this is more of a journal entry versus an update on my life or whatever.

I love my friends. I feel like I have several really good friends that I will have for life. Once you're in my heart you are kinda there for good. When I look back on my friendships from the past I am still in touch with most of those people. The people I'm not so in touch with were never really that good of friends. I've never ended a friendship because I was mad or jealous. The friendships that I've had that have faded have just faded over time. No bitter feelings or unfinished business. I still see my friends from high school a lot, which blows Davids mind since he has one really good friend from high school and that's it. I have never found it that unusual. I love talking about old times and talking about our lives now and what we're doing. I don't like losing touch with people I love. I love a lot of people.

I have one situation in my past that was a rough ending with a really good friend. This friend decided that they didn't want to be my friend anymore. They decided they didn't like having me around or talking to me. They never made it clear why they decided that. They hurt me. I moved on. I had several wonderful life experiences without thinking about them at all. Every once in a while I'd wonder how this friend was. What they were doing. If they were happy. Then this friend came back in my life. 3 1/2 years since I had seen or talked to this friend. They apologized. They tried their best to explain why. They said they want to be friends again. That they've missed me. Truthfully I've missed them too. But I was over it. I wasn't upset about not having them in my life and now they matter again. When I go a few days without talking to them I wonder how they are. But I don't trust them. They say it wasn't my fault that they stopped being my friend but they said it was my fault at the time so of course that's whats in my head. I can't let it go. I don't want to say or do the wrong thing in case they decide they don't want to be my friend again. I don't want to put in effort just to get hurt again. It doesn't feel like they're putting in much effort at this point. But I'm looking too hard at the situation. It should be simple. They apologized. They're glad we're friends again. The end. Not so much in my head. I'm such a girl. I didn't used to care at all what people thought of me or who was in my life and who wasn't. If you were going to be in my life you were going to put in the effort. If you weren't that great of a friend I was over trying and I'd easily move on. All the sudden I can't move on. The conversations are awkward. Not at all like they used to be. It should be easy to move on from this friend. They weren't in my life for 3 years and I was fine! I'm going slightly crazy. I find myself unable to remember the memories they bring up. I think I blocked them out because I didn't think they would ever be a part of my life again. I tried to erase them completely maybe? This friend has changed a lot and says the person I met over 6 years ago was the true them. Maybe I've forgotten but I don't think this person is the same as that person I had so many fun times with. They don't seem the same. I've been trying so hard to find my old journals that would be full of memories I could look through and remember but I can't find my journals. Maybe I'm not supposed to be friends with them again. Maybe we could be half friends. You know where you talk every few months. No big deal. You hardly ever see each other. Its just, I'm not good at half friend relationships. I'm kinda a go big or go home type of girl.

I saw a dance on SYTYCD a couple weeks ago about friendship. It was perfect. Click here to see Kent and Neil dance how I'm feeling. It made me think of this friend. Except at the end of this dance the backstabber doesn't come back. I think its harder that the backstabber came back in my situation. Now I don't know what to do.

Sorry for the emo post, it was just on my mind today.

Favs

My favorite kid quotes:

Mom of a 5 yr old girl at the hospital--"say thank you to the lady"
5 yr old girl (as she's running away with her walker)--"thanks lady!"

7 yr old school kid while on a field trip--"This is terrible! The sun is terrible! The cars are terrible! The people are terrible!"

Taryn's (a 7 yr old in my primary class after seeing that I brought treats) opening prayer--"please bless the food"

Ethan (a 7 yr old in my primary class talking about how he could be a good example in his home)--"I could help my dad do the laundry for a week. No no no 2 days. I could help him do the laundry for 2 days"

Kade's (a 7 yr old in my primary class after promising he'd be good next time I teach in 3 weeks.) closing prayer--"Please help us to be good next time she's here."

3 yr old girl at the hospital--"I'm going to get my tonsils out, I'm going to get my tonsils out. ha ha ha ha ha"

All About Abby

So I have this great friend. Her name is Abby. Her family owns Raging Waters. I used to work at Rage. (that is where I met my great husband) Abby and I worked together way back then and she is still one of my best friends. She's an amazing wife and mother. Truly an inspiration to me. She is one of my favorite people to talk to. I'm lucky because I have been able to see this girl get married to a great guy, have her first baby Olivea (who is absolutely gorgeous), and now I've seen her getting ready to add a little boy to her family. I got to throw her a baby shower the other night. Luckily I was not in charge of making it darling. Amanda from her ward handled that. I handled the games and a couple of food items. (I'm great at buying things from the grocery store) We played a game of memory. Matching up key things about babies like doctor bills and epidural. (epidermal, haha) If you got a match I handed out candy that went along with the card. For example doctor bills was 100 grand and epidural was lifesavers. It was fun until I realized I forgot to get a baby ruth candy bar for baby girl. Haha I'm ridiculous. Give me a break this was my first baby shower, I waited until the day of to get the cards that you play the game with and the candy bars, and I had a job interview the same day. It was stressful ok? We played another game where you guess how big Abby's adorable baby belly is with ribbon and whoever guessed the closest got a little prize. I didn't win because I way way over guessed. Abby you're the cutest pregnant lady ever I just got a little excited because I love baby bellies. :]

It was such a fun night. I loved seeing Abby and her cute mom and sisters. I love that whole family and I love how they make you feel like you're apart of their family. I didn't take a ton of pics but here are a couple.

Abbys darling sisters Kallie and Shelby. (Kallie..on the left..is the older one just in case you were wondering ;])

Abby's cute mom Karen. She over measured a little bit too.

Ann, Karen, Kelly, and Gma Dawes

Abby opening her presents

I love you Abby! I'm so excited to meet baby Owen. If he's really really lucky he might be born on my birthday! (for those of you that are wondering, yes I'm counting down to my birthday! 17 days left!)

The Polsons

After counting down the last 5 months with Kellee, August 7th finally arrived. She's married!! It was such a gorgeous day. I honestly can't tell you how much I love this girl. We have the same sense of humor, we want the same things in life, and now we have husbands who love talking about politics, electronics, and other things Kellee and I hate. Kellee and I have been friends for about 10 years. We met in drama class in 7th grade. Kell came up to my group and asked us if she could be in our skit. I was impressed she was that outgoing to come right up and ask us that. We said sure . When she sat down I said something rude about someone I didn't like (imagine that :]) and she said "Well that girl is one of my friends and I like her." From that point on Kellee has been an amazing example to me. Always making me a better person. I have had so many priceless nights with her when I have literally been sore the next day from all the laughing but I have also had more serious talks with her then with most of my friends. She is a happy positive person and I love being around her. This last week I was able to be around her a lot. Her bachelorette party was Wednesday. I went over after I got off work and we went to get mani's and pedi's. Then we went to her party and had so much fun. Sahar went over the top with decorations and party favors. So darling :] (I didn't take any pictures though. Shoot..).
Her wedding dinner was on Friday. She sang with her dad, her parents and Matt's mom gave toasts, and we ate some amazing food. We went to her sealing on Saturday morning. It was beautiful. I love going to other peoples sealings because I don't remember a ton of mine! haha. There was a great spirit there and I'm so glad we got to be a part of it. In between the temple and the reception we went to my moms house to kill some time. We got to go see my cousin and her little twin boys that are getting cuter by the daySorry...I got side tracked. But can you blame me with this little guy :]
That night we went to her reception. I was a bridesmaid so we did pictures and then wandered around for a few hours while she greeted her guests. A ton of my friends from high school were there and it was so fun to spend time with them. It brought back a lot of great nights we used to have. The food line was out of control. I waited almost 40 minutes for a snow cone..was it worth it? Yes. All night Carly and I were so excited to light the place on fire with our dance moves. Which we did for all 4 songs. They didn't do a ton of dancing but what they did do revolved mostly around Kellee's niece Audrey. She's a born dancer for sure! I was told that some people were upset there weren't choreographed routines like there used to be in high school. I'm going on record saying that I would have been down for that. But even without that I had a incredible time. The entire day was flawless. I couldn't have had a better time. I love Kellee and welcome Matt into the family with open arms. They're perfect together. Here are some pics of their reception.

Terrible Thursdays

You know how some people have "Thankful Thursdays"? Well I am not one of those people. In fact I have the complete opposite. I have Terrible Thursdays for some reason. Recently everything bad has been happening on Thursdays. I got my speeding ticket on a Thursday. I got in my car accident on a Thursday. Now for todays Terrible Thursday story.

My dad got some cataract surgery on his eye this morning. Routine, no big deal type of surgery. He had a check up at the dentist yesterday and they found a cyst in his gums that needed to be taken out right away. So after his cataract surgery this morning he was scheduled for dental surgery in the afternoon. Mid morning I get a call from my mom. She was bawling and extremely panicked. I immediately thought something had happened to my dad in a bloody cataract surgery and he's dead. My mom knew she had panicked me so she said "he's fine, dad's fine. My house got broken into." My heart dropped. Thats terrifying. The things that are missing regardless, someone was just walking around my moms room. Digging through her things. Looking at my second grade picture and our family pictures on the wall and then taking our things. They were very very lucky because all that was taken were the tvs, dvd players, laptop, and Wii. It could have been so much worse. Nothing of true value was touched. Its more about the violation of some Creeper McCreepster lurking until he sees both my parents leave their home, cutting the screen on their bedroom window, and pulling himself into their bedroom, digging by my moms scriptures to take her laptop, walking past the pictures of Christ and the temple to take the tvs, and feeling as though he was entitled to anything he wanted. A "Pam" will very soon be joining their family.

I guess if I was a positive Polly I could turn this Terrible Thursday into a Thankful Thursday as there is much to be thankful for today. But I don't feel like it at the moment so today is just another Terrible Thursday.

Summer Splash

On Saturday David's company threw a "Summer Splash" party. It was so fun. They had it at a huge outdoor venue with tons of bounce houses, inflatable slides, food, and....RAIN? Yes last year it was so hot I was dying, this year it down poured like I've never seen before. It lasted a long time and got harder as it kept going. The tug-a-war competition was about to start. I was stoked to watch Davids huge cousins kick some trash. It started to rain, I was like NBD (no big deal) I'm standing out here in the rain to watch this. It got harder and harder. Kelly and Shelli had come to keep me company since David was going to be busy working the event. Luckily Kelly had an umbrella in the car. Kelly took one for the team and stood out in the pouring rain while Shelli, Noah, and I lover cuddled under the umbrella. My back was still soaked. They decided to go with the tug-a-war despite the rain. Everyone was slipping. I kept my confidence in Davids cousins Austin and Colton. Well lets just say, they let me down. The girls on their team slipped almost right away. Austin got taken down with them and was being dragged along on the ground. Colton held on with all his heart and was pretty much stepping over the people on the ground trying to save it. He didn't. They lost. I was pissed. I immediately ran over and was yelling at them about how pathetic they were. Some people say I shouldn't mess with dudes 8 times my size but I'm not scared. I stood out in the pouring rain to watch you get slaughtered. Haha well I guess I can forgive them. Finally the rain cleared up and they had a concert that night with an acapella band. I made fun of them for the first little bit and then it turned out to be kinda cool. We just layed on the grass and chilled while they sang. Then David's company gave away a ton of ridiculous prizes (which we didn't win any of :[ ) and then they had some crazy fire dancing show. Overall it was a fun day.

Favorite Moments:
1. Dancing with Noah under the pavilion during the rain. Noah has got some serious moves for a 17 month old.
2. Getting wet wipes out for Colton's girls after their snow cones. They were all standing under me with their hands up in the air waiting for them. So thats what it feels like to be a little mother huh? ha
3. Going with my "body guards" Austin and Jeff to get drinks.
4. Laying on David's lap to listen to the music and just chill.
5. Convincing Stuart and Kateka to stay longer then Stu originally wanted to :]. Those fire dancers were worth it Stu, I dont want to hear it.
6. Keeping my feet firmly on the ground while Shelli and Kelly climbed the rock wall. (I'm still planning on sky diving though Kelly)
7. Getting a foot fungus with Shelli as we climbed up the shark slide. Then getting the wettest butt ever on the way down.

Here are a couple pictures. I didn't take a lot because it was raining and stuff.

David (what is his face?) Jacob (what is his face?) Austin (thats about as normal as he gets) and Jeff (why are you staring at Austin?)

Me holding Noah after we ate. He's so adorable, I love his little face!

Shelli, hanging out watching her adorable son dance to the music :]
