Chocolate Covered Almonds

When David's Aunt Chris Ann was here for Thanksgiving she bought some chocolate covered almonds and made me eat some. Ok maybe she didn't MAKE me per se but I felt pressured at least! Well I loved them and now crave them all the time. Luckily they sell them at Costco and you better believe I picked some up last time I was there. Look what David and I found....

You have to ignore how stupid we look and just look at the special almond. Its a heart. It represents true love....of  chocolate covered almonds. haha we're so ridiculous but I thought it was way too cool to not blog about.

Chipoholics

The title pretty much sums it up. David and I have a chip addiction. We have several variety on hand at all times. Oh man, its the best to find someone who has the same passions in life as you do right?! :]
Yeah, I got to go. I got me some chips to eat.

Kyla Girl's 6 Month Check

I am so bad about posting about my daughter! Its cause things change so much I don't even know where to start so I get overwhelmed and then I don't post about her. haha Well she's great. Still getting plenty of food and killing the scales. Not rolling over yet the lazy girl. Technically she's 7 months old now but here are her 4 month and 6 month stats.
4 month-
weight-- 17lbs 15oz 99%
height--25.14 in  80%
head--41.4 cm  50%
Percentage weight to length 94%

6 month-
weight--20lbs 4oz 99%
height--26.4 in  76%
head--42.3 49%
Percentage weight to length 95%

Favorite things Kyla's doing currently:
Smacking her lips
Grabbing EVERYTHING (including my elbow when I'm changing her diaper)
Bouncing like a maniac in her zoo bouncer
Babbling her head off
Sitting on her own like the biggest girl ever.
Smiling every time she looks at me.
Smiling mid cry if I start singing "Baby Love"
Eating baby food like a champ
Making funny faces
Laughing at her dad all the time
Laughing when she hears me laugh
Staring and following you anywhere you walk (she just wants to know what's going on!)
Rubbing/scratching my leg while I feed her (she tries to get a good grip but settles to just rub it for me)
Loving bath time and her ducky
Chewing/sucking on everything
Getting out of her swaddle during naps and pulling Ellie the elephant that plays music over to her so she can chew on her. Then she laughs at me when I come into get her because I call her a ninja and laugh at how cute she is.
Loving books and smiling while I read to her/reaching out just to see what the book feels like
Cuddling with me after I feed or read to her. She's content just to sit back on my lap and hang out. Cherry on top she looks up at me every once in a while just to make sure I'm still there.
Laughing as I dance or sing to her. She loves music. Must be my kid.
Grabbing both her feet and then falling onto her side because she won't let go
Scream laughing
Kicking and flailing around when she's excited

Still hating her tummy haha

Overall she's just the best thing ever and I love all the little moments with her. Not a day goes by that she doesn't do something new that I laugh at. And not a day goes by that I don't thank Heavenly Father for trusting me to raise her.

2012, Holla!

We rang in the new year with great friends, great food, great early bedtime for the babe, great dance offs on dance central,(which deserves a post entirely to itself) and a great old fashioned fight at midnight. I don't even remember what it was about now. I just know that it's always said, how you spend the eve is how you'll spend the next year. So, fighting? No thank you. We quickly (kinda) got over it so we could kiss at midnight and spend all of next year being in love mixed with a little feistyness. ;)
The only picture taken New Years Eve. I didn't want my picture taken obviously. Don't worry, he posted it to Fbook.
New Years Day morning
Happy New Year!

2011 was a great year. To review I'll tell you some of the peaks and pits of my year.

Peaks: obviously having Kyla but the way I had her was odd. I didn't even get to hold her on June 19. After 24 hours of labor and the meds they gave me I didn't even know what was happening let alone feel the love you're supposed to feel instantly. I didn't feel that connection and I was afraid I wouldn't get it. So the real peak of this year was the moment I realized I couldn't live without her. Other peaks included Vegas, maternity leave, visit from Scott (David's dad), the new ER job, becoming close with David's cousin Garrett, spending lots of time with family (both sides), having the best friends ever and some great cinematic adventure nights with them, getting a new nephew, for all intensive purposes getting a new sister in law (Jacob's Jessica. They're not married but I love her), spending several low key nights with my little fam (just hanging out with David and laughing at our cute daughter who is amazing), making up with a friend of mine and the relationship it's led to now, accomplishing 4 years of marriage with the greatest man in the world, and...loosing the baby weight. Haha kidding...kinda.
This is Garrett and me...well my leg. Haha its the only picture I have of us.

PS I don't have pictures of all those things and I don't want to spend YEARS searching for the perfect one for each thing so there it is. Haha I tried to include some good ones of everything.

Pits: stressing out so much about...everything when it all turned out just fine but the peak in that is just another lesson about living in the moment and enjoying every bit of it. Honestly this year didn't have many pits. All the car trouble Lilly gave us. Jerk. Luckily she's stepped up since September so no more stress with her right now.

Goals for 2012:
Make a craft
Stress less/enjoy more
Drink more water
Clean up right when I make a mess
Start cooking dinner cause Kyla's gonna start eating real food
Eat out less
Coupon more
Read the Book of Mormon together as a fam
Go on adventures

Christmas Time is...gone

If I would have done this post before Christmas I would have said...Christmas Time is Upon Us. But too little too late so here we are :].

Christmas was great at the Barham house. David and I decided to go in on another mutual gift for one another so we got an amazing popcorn maker. We're obsessed. 9:30 in the morning? Who cares, lets make popcorn. Extra butter. Perfect. Best gift we could have picked out. Also we both REALLY need new clothes so a shopping trip to Park City will be happening sometime before too long. Merry Christmas to us. Christmas this year was with my family. Christmas Eve was at my Aunt Chris' house. It was a lot of fun. Great food, great company, and great competitive round of Minute to Win it. Perfect night. Christmas morning we got up and hurried to Alec and Megan's house to see their little fam before we went to my mom's church. Jack was loving his gifts from Santa and even cooked me a mushroom, egg, and one potato chip from his new food set on his grill. How sweet is my nephew? I know. We went to church at my moms ward which is always fun to see the old hood. I do miss seeing those faces all the time! Then it was present opening time at my parents house. David got a Alton Brown cook book that he's in love with and I got some new clothes. Then mutually they gave us a diaper bag that I can actually fit Kyla's things in! YAY. (side note, David wanted a certain diaper bag which is fine but its little and she's only taking more things with her the older she gets so I complain about it all the time.) Win win because he can carry his and I'll carry mine :] And they also gave us a space heater that we've been using in Kyla's room. She's right above the garage and her room gets pretty cold at night so we've been keeping our heat up. Now we just turn this on low and keep her room at a comfortable 70 while our room is a brisk 62. Just the way we like it. Kyla woke up from her nap just in time and opened her gifts from Grandma and Grandpa. She LOVED....the paper from the presents. But who wouldn't, it was pretty. She did also love her gifts. Some cute clothes to droll and spit up all over and fun toys to chew on and get frustrated about how they don't really fit in your mouth right is a babies heaven right? David and I got Kyla a Zoo Jumperoo thing so she can bounce and play to her hearts content. She loves it. We also got her several books because we didn't really have any. I love the ones we got but how come kids books have to be so expensive! I didn't realize they were I guess. One little book with a total of 5 words is like 8 bucks. Killer. I need to get some more though because I have this great picture in my head of Kyla loving her books and reading them all the time. So what are your suggestions for must have kids books?? Anyhoo David and Kyla went and played at Ya-ya's (David's aunt Wendy who Kyla will call Ya-ya. No, Wendy is not Greek. She just wants to be called that. haha) house that night while I went to work. No exciting things from Christmas night in the ER. Just a lot of injuries from playing with new gifts and cousins. However, one boy came in and casually mentioned that him and his brother were wrestling and he rolled over on a butcher knife that just happened to be on the floor. No big deal.

My little sheep

Christmas PJ's!

So overall a lovely Christmas. I can't wait until next year when Kyla has a better idea of whats going on and is terrified of Santa :]

New Baby Josh

I have a new nephew. Baby Josh was born Dec 5th. He is such a sweet little guy and I love his guts.
My 2 cute nephews! Jack loves his baby brother :]

Last but not least...
I love Josh's face in this. hahaha so cute.

I'm Thankful For.....

...being able to post about our Thanksgiving in January :]
We had a great Thanksgiving this year down with David's fam in Joes Valley. The new cabin is totally insulated and stayed a cozy 70 degrees at least while outside was a little nippy. A lot of the extended family was there and I do love crazy family parties so I was living it up. Kyla did really well with so many people around. She slept through Thanksgiving dinner...even with the teen table right outside her door. Way to go champ. Nana K and Aunt Allie soaked up every minute she had with Kyla, loving it all. We played several rousing games. I don't remember the names for all of them but they included...lying to each other and me getting called out for it EVERY time, snorting like a pig in each others faces and not laughing, and running around like a bunch of chickens with our heads cut off looking for an open chair. Sound amusing? Cause it was. This post is jumbled but its because it happened 2 months ago! A lot has happened since then. This is why I blog right after it happens people, my brain is not what it used to be. Oh well, at least we have pictures! Picture overload warning...

Nightly baths in front of the fire. Chubbers :]

The wrapper is on people...calm down

Santa came to the family party!

Hahaha so David used to crochet on his mish so his mom had supplies and he thought he'd make a hat for Kyla. Well he underestimated her head size a little and she hated it.

The proud Nana K and G-ma

Cute Grandpa moment

She didn't want to be a part of our family picture. wah wah.

I actually am Thankful for so much. I'm an extremely blessed person and I know it. Here's my little (many are being left off) list of things I'm thankful for...
The Gospel
The hub
The daughter
The fam on both sides
The amazing friends we have
The diet coke fountain in the ER
The Kinect- Dance Central dance offs that we have weekly now
The home I have to live in
The jobs David and I are blessed to have
The laughter that makes even the most stressful life fun
The love I receive from others in my life

I heard a quote recently and it has stuck with me....
"What if you woke up today with only the things you thanked God for yesterday?"
Remember the little things that are actually huge :]
