Whew I've made it 10 days!! This is a huge accomplishment for me and I'm amped on telling everyone (even the strangers I check in for surgery) that I'm still going strong! The worlds most recent attempts to bring me down include but aren't limited to
1. Starbursts for my primary kids.
Everyday I ask David to take them to work and everyday I come home and they're sitting on my counter. Thanks a lot husband for trying to tempt me. But you haven't gotten me yet!
2. Trips to Starbucks with Gentry in the morning.
On slow mornings at the hospital Gentry and I sometimes run to Starbucks in the U hospital. I do love a good peppermint hot chocolate. Lately I've been going with Gentry just for the walk over there :]
3. Chocolate covered pretzels in SDS
Today at work I was walking down to the cafeteria with a coworker of mine when another coworker asked if I would get her a treat while I was down there. Being the nice person I ALWAYS am I said yes. She gives me some money and asked for chocolate covered pretzels. At first I approved of this request because I don't really like pretzels so it doesn't tempt me...but after 10 days of no sugar I'm about ready to eat dirt if it would satisfy the craving so the second I saw the chocolate covered pretzels I almost ripped the bag open right then and there. I take them back up to her and she opens them to share with everyone. Thanks a lot Annie. I was seriously talking to myself constantly "Liz, you've made it 10 days and if you even eat one of those pretzels right now you'll have to start all over! You can't tell people one day that you've made it 10 days and then the next day say you're on day 1 again. That would suck. Does it taste as good as skinny feels? Does it taste as good as skinny feels? Yes YES Y.E.S. it would taste as good...no no Liz it wouldn't. Pull yourself together." I had a pretty good handle on myself and then I went over to turn the Ipod up and the bag of pretzels was right next to it. I got a big old whiff of chocolate and I swear I've never smelled anything so appealing in my life! I'm VERY happy to tell you though I ran the other direction..literally ran and I didn't eat any of them! I sound so stupid when I talk about it, but I am ridiculously proud of myself so thanks for listening to my craziness!

Teppanyaki
Recently David and I have gone to Teppanyaki a couple times. To celebrate our "anniversary" of hanging out with our besties Stu and Kateka 2 years ago Feb, David's birthday dinner, and with our good friends Abby and Garron for Valentines Day. Each time I've been there the cooks are so different. Some are hilarious and some are just great cooks with no personality. Stu, Kateka, David and I always joke about the first time we went there together when the cook said a couple great catch phrases. One was when he offered something to David and when he went to take it the man snatched it back and said (enter accent here) "Its not your birthday.." and when he flipped a bowl into the chefs hat he was wearing on his head and said "Where's the bowl, where's the bowl?" He is probably still the winner of most hilarious. When we went with Abby and Garron our chef was pretty funny but quiet and I kept missing his little jokes.
Here is a video of that chef. He's saying that the more you clap the more food he gives you. I had eaten a late lunch that day so all I got was shrimp tempura....I know I'm the party pooper.
Here are some pictures of our fun nights! Basically the point of this blog was to tell you that I love Japanese food and the environment at Teppanyaki. Haha

CTR 7
I tried running but my ward caught me and called me to be the CTR 7 primary teacher. I have the 7 year olds which is a really cute age and I love kids so its a pretty great calling. This primary is a lot bigger then the ones I've served in in the past. I've taught the 4 and 5 year olds in 2 different wards for a year at a time. Both wards I had only 4 kids that actually came. In this new ward I have at least 7, most of the time closer to 10. I taught for the first time today about Jesus's birthday. (I know its not Christmas time but it was the next lesson) The kids are pretty rowdy, especially one little man named Jordan. He will be my big challenge I think. But when he slows down and talks he had pretty good things to say. At one point in the class a little girl named Paige told me this lesson was for little kids and she had had this lesson already in her first class. I told her that maybe if she really paid attention she'd get something different out of it this time. Its still up in the air if she did or not.
My mom got me a HUGE giraffe purse from AZ last time she was there. I told her I wanted one and she definitely delivered. The particular one she bought for me I'm sure I could fit everyone that reads this blog inside the bag to carry you with me wherever I go. I needed a bag to carry my new primary book, scriptures, crayons, and whatever activity I have for that lesson with me to church. So I picked the Mr Giraffe purse. Here I am about to go to church...too flashy for primary?? Maybe but thats kinda my personality too so oh well :]

No Sugar..day 4
Is it really only day 4? I feel like I've been in the desert for weeks without water or something. Its pretty much all I think about at this point. Also the world is out to get me. Today at work they brought brownies and hot chocolate to the surgery dept for doing such a great job with our joint commission that just came through. Thanks PCMC, but you're not going to get me! Also at my work meeting today our boss brought Jolly Ranchers. At the beginning of the meeting I was like oh Jolly Ranchers are nothing, I can handle that. By hour 2 I was seriously close to blowing the whole thing off for a Jolly Rancher. Really? I don't even like Jolly Ranchers. PULL yourself together Liz! Only 5 weeks and 3 days to go :]

Laundry
I don't mind cleaning. There are, however, a few things within that category that I don't love.
1. Cleaning bathrooms in general but mostly toilets
2. Making beds (so dumb to hate it but unless I have David's help on the other side I get sick of walking around trying to make it look smooth)
3. FOLDING laundry
I really don't mind doing the laundry but I hang almost everything I own and a lot of what David wears up to dry. At the apt we had a wire line thing that I hung it all across but at the new house there's nothing. David and I have to hang it all over our house to let it dry. Its a hot mess. Then we throw it back in our laundry room and pretty much dig for our clothes for the next 2 months until I get real sick of it and decide to fold the beast of a pile.
I had pictures of it hanging all over the house but they got lost when our laptop died so I'll just show you the massive pile that I folded the other day. It may or may not have taken me 3 hours. Ridiculous :]

Presents!
So for Christmas my mother-in-law Kelly gave David and I each some money and told us to find something that we really wanted. Well I know its now Feb 15 but I just barely found what I want! They come in the form of 4.5 inch grey heels :] They're BEAUTIFUL! I cant get the picture to post for some reason so I guess I'll just have to wait until I get them and post a pic of me wearing them! Thanks Kelly!
Speaking of presents, yesterday we went to my mom's house for dinner and she was able to give David his birthday present. She wouldn't tell me what it was because she said it was kinda for both of us. So David gets this piece of paper and begins to read it while I'm just staring at him waiting to hear what it is...finally my mom said "its 2 passes for indoor skydiving"! WHAT! I'm so excited to go! I've wanted to go forever. So creative mom! We love it! That will have to be a future post because they give you the video of yourself flying. Get ready
P.S. Today is Day 1 no sugar! So far so good....at 7:54 am ;]

Keep me honest

So I am a bridesmaid in my friend Catherine's upcoming wedding and I need to lay off the suga a little if I really want to fit well in the dress! Literally. David had to help me put the dress on and I had to stop breathing to zip it up so I have decided this upcoming Monday 2/15 (after valentines day :]) I am stopping sugar until at least after her wedding on April 2nd. It will be good for my body anyways since I overload my diabetty body with candy and chocolate all the time! I am not going to stop the natural sugars like fruit, just my favorite kind of sugar like chocolate and cookies.
While I am thinking of the weeks I have coming at me I am reminded of the last time I tried to do this when I made it a total of 9 days. We went down to David's parent's house with some friends. It was one of the friend's birthdays that weekend so I told myself "hey liz, you've made it 9 days! Good for you! I am going to let you have just one little piece of cake this weekend as a reward!" Well needless to say I not only fell off the bandwagon but I got ran over a few times and I never got back up. Lets hope I can make it this time!
I'm telling everyone this because I'm hoping to use it as a tool in my head at 2 am when I'm about to pound the chocolate syrup straight out of the bottle. I'll say to myself "Liz, you are going to have to tell everyone you fell down again and they'll be so disappointed. AND they'll have to look at you in that bridesmaid dress thats not zipped up all the way and think to themselves thats so not cute." So when and if you see me ask me about how I'm doing. Constantly. Please :]
So I have 4 days left and I have a battle going on in my head about eating as much sugar as I can or slowly weening off of it so I dont have crazy with drawl. I think I'm going to break down steadily so I dont have a bad reaction like crazy headaches and not sleeping all night! Pray for me please!
