Parent Poem

Bandage scraped knees. Kiss away fears.
Watch their heartbreak and dry their tears.
Teach them to know what's right and what's wrong.
Show them how to be gentle and when to be strong.
Tell them you love them, and then let it show.
That's the easiest part of helping them grow.
There needs to be discipline, but don't over do it.
Praise and encouragement strengthens their spirit.
Show them respect for their feelings and thoughts.
They should know their important, self worth can't be bought.
Show them some patience and always be kind.
Developing minds make mistakes time to time.
Teach them to be the best they can be.
When they're happy within,
WHAT A RIDE LIFE CAN

So You Think You Can Dance TOUR!
Wednesday I switched a girl I work with shifts so she could go to a drs appt. So I worked my normal 4:30p-1a shift Tuesday night and then worked 8a-4:30p the next day. I was a little exhausted and totally looking forward to relaxing at home with my family who I never get to see. I got a call from my friend Shelli just asking if I was working that night. At first I thought maybe she was working the night for some reason and was going to come visit me because we both work at the hospital but nope. She was calling to invite me to a little event happening that night called the So You Think You Can Dance Tour! NBD just my favorite thing ever. I called David and asked him if he had any homework or if he'd be up to watch Kyla by himself so I could take fate up on its offer to fulfill some dreams of mine and go see this show. He couldn't really turn that proposal down so the sweet man agreed that I had to go. So Shelli, her mother in law Robin, and grandmother in law Pat came and got me and we went to see the show. It was a ton of fun and I am so happy Shel thought of me to go with them. About the show--Tadd, being from Utah was hamming his life away to the crowd who was eating every piece of it up. They love him. My favorite dance was probably the group dance to Coldplay Viva La Vida. There are songs that move your soul when you hear them and that is one of them. Add gorgeous movement to it and I die its so great. I kept getting distracted and forgetting to take pictures but here are some great ones I did get.
This was the Coldplay dance
Love it!
Terrible picture of me but its the only one I got of Shelli and me!
How freaking gorg is Melanie. I die at her dancing. Every style. Everything. Love her.

Some Good Old Fashioned Apple Pie....and egg
So Kateka and I decided that we were going to make a pie. Aren't we the cutest little Susie Homemakers ever? Yeah I know. So we went to the Farmers Market and got apples to make this pie. That night I felt totally unprepared because I had taken a nap instead of researching how you actually make one so I went into this kinda rushed when I woke up to our doorbell and Kateka and Stu all ready to make some serious chimichangas and apple pie. Kateka worked on the chimichangas while I got everything on the list for the pie together. Once I had it all out I just started combining things right and left like I was the greatest cook in the world. A pinch of nutmeg and a dash of cinnamon and I was well on my way to having the best apple pie ever. After I combined everything in the bowl I started reading the instructions. Maybe should have done that first. I don't know. This is when I realized I had made a little whoopsie. I had thought to myself that adding a egg yoke in with the apples was kinda funky but who am I to question "the best apple pie in the world" recipe. So I separated that egg like an expert. With further investigation I learned that it was indeed weird to add the egg to the apples since it was meant to be beaten with the water and brushed over the crust. What a joke. I yell out to Kateka, "I'm an IDIOT! Its over, its ruined, its done!" Then I had a brief feeling of hope when I thought that maybe we could get the yoke out. Well then Kateka popped that bubble of hope but popping the egg yoke and we, in slow motion, watched it seep down with all the other ingredients never to be seen again. I fell to the ground and yelled "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO". So we decide that who knows it still could be delicious so we'll just go for it. At that point I made the decision to not make homemade crust because I had already had enough let downs so I pulled out the pie crusts we had gotten as a back up. They both came in pie tins so you had to get one out and let it thaw its self flat to be the top. Well I'm sorry but who thought that was a good idea? Stupid. It refused to come out so I had to, as delicately as I could, rip it out and try to piece it back together. It didn't work. At this point I had already ruined my incredible homemade apple pie so I actually didn't even care about the stupid crust. Once I poured my apple egg mix into the bottom crust I put my strips of crust on top of the pie in hopes of being able to, you know like smush it back together. Well this is what it looked like...
This is how much I cared....
This is it after it was baked....
Drowned in a bunch of vanilla ice cream it was ok but I'm not exaggerating when I say there was a hint of egg. Next time I'm going to have it down! Homemade apple pie, hold the egg.
But to show you how I was the only failure of the night, here is Kateka's profesh Mexican Restaurant dish.

Little funnies
Things that make me laugh lately:
Kyla's face when I turn on my blow dryer.
Kyla in her spooky pj's
These girls on ellen. David and I have watched it so many times, I love them so much.
This second video David and I die at.
Stories in the ER.
-A psych pt running away from the hospital only to be chased and forcefully brought back by a tech and a nurse. The dr said its his biggest regret in life not getting a picture of the 3 of them squished in his back seat so that we could hang it up by our door and have the caption, "we will find you"! Hahaha Oh did I mention I checked this lady in before she made a run for it. She was brought in for laying underneath her dads car inhaling the exhaust. They took her belongings when she got here but they had a pt that everyone needed to work on come in and she took the opportunity to run with her gown on and all her bed sheets. Psych is right.
-Another psych pt making a run for it. Tech, nurse, and "roly poly" security guard running right behind him. They caught him right away but next thing we know we have a walk back heart attack. The pt? Roly poly himself! Haha don't panic folks he's ok...just advised to not run if possible.
Shows like Modern Family and Happy Endings
David and I have been quoting a Happy Endings line all week. "I'm going to give you one of these.." (a thumbs up)
Isn't laughter the best ever.

Monkey
My mom bought Kyla some adorable monkey pj's. They are so stinking cute I can't believe it. They have monkeys on her little toes and a monkey on the butt. The other day Kyla and I were laying on the couch and she saw that there was a monkey on her foot. She stared with the most concentrated look on her face for such a long time. Baffled that there was a monkey on her foot and that it kept moving. (She isn't really in control of the arms and feet yet and I'm pretty sure she just surprises herself when she jerks those things around) The pictures pretty much show it all.
