A Little Bragging is in Order

So I've done posts about David's photography before but recently he's stepped his game up. He's gotten a new camera and has absolutely fallen in love with taking obscure unusual pictures. Well turns out he's very good at this. I knew it all along! He is going to be featured in a gallery in September. So keep the 3rd Friday in Sept. open because they do an open house for friends and family and we would LOVE to see you all there. It's downtown salt lake and the address will come as we get closer. Anyways he started a photography company, David Barham Photography. You should check out his stuff and like his page on fbook. You'll love it. Here is some of his recent stuff...

Cool right? I couldn't be prouder. He has literally taught himself all about photography and used his creative mind to come up with the ideas for these shots. I love his artsy instincts and I'm so impressed by his drive and passion for this. The plan is for him to teach me all he knows and he'll continue with the hardcore long exposure shots and I'll do portrait photography because that's what I love. I've always loved taking pictures. I feel like I've had somewhat of an eye to what could be a beautiful picture but David finds beauty in abstract and trying new things and that's something I'm missing. That's why we'll make the perfect team right?? :) That's one of our dreams. Be photography geniuses together. Not too much to ask for right?

DST

Daylight savings time already? Blah. I love spring but I hate 'springing' forward and losing that hour sleep tonight! You know what makes DST even more complicated? A babies schedule. All thrown off. Well we'll adjust.

Kyla girl popped a tooth today! I was telling my mom that she could see the outline under the gums if she looked and my mom felt the sharp little edge. I had to wash my hands and feel that for myself right away. Sure enough, just a little cornor has made an appearance. The poor girl has been very uncomfortable for the past few months but especially lately so it's about time.

Today was a very fun/expensive day. :) We went to Park City to do that Christmas shopping I told you about. David was the one that really scored, however I got a couple deals too. Having new clothes or a new outfit is one of the funnest feelings ever. You wake up in a good mood but you don't even know why until you remember. I got a few new cardigans so now I need some new stuff to pair them with. A trip to New York is coming up and I've got to look fly for that!

Have a lovely Sunday! Enjoy the beautiful spring weather and enjoy feeling tired because you're getting ripped off tonight. Xoxo

Jazz Vs Heat

You have to understand my love of the Jazz. Playoffs are like my second Christmas and I L.O.V.E the Jazz more then anything. I yell and scream and get super nervous. I love going to the games because the energy that's there can not be matched..if its a good game. So we went to the Jazz game on Friday night with David's work. Oh man was it a good game. Did you see that win over the Heat?? It was AWESOME. I'm telling you the nosebleeds are where the fun is at. We had some Heat fans behind us...and in front of us...well all around us really. David says they're all bandwagon fans. Haha Well the Jazz fans behind us next to the Heat fans got into a pretty funny chant war. The Jazz fans started it with chanting to Lebron James, "buy some talent" to which the Heat fans answered every time James had the ball, "straight outta high school". Well congratulations James for going to the NBA right out of high school. No one cares, that was ages ago. So then the Jazz fans would yell for any Jazz player that had the ball where they came from...like, "3 years of college". Haha it was hilarious. Then at one point this cute 12 year old boy came on the jumbotron doing the robot so they yelled, "straight outta middle school". That was the best. Then there was a lady in front of us that clapped for no reason and at the most random times. So I'd join in. Or I'd just start at an awkward moment. I don't think she ever got that I was making fun of her but the people I was with knew and that's all I cared about! Haha well we won with a last second basket and block! It.Was.So.Good. I didn't take any pictures because I opted to not even take my purse so you'll just have to take my word that we were there and that I loved it.

Just Because

Sometimes you should do things to show someone you love them just because. Not on valentines or an anniversary or the persons birthday but just on a Wednesday or something. David is great at this. Even if it's just bringing me home a ddp (diet dr pepper) he thinks about me. So last week I thought I needed to do something for him. We have a favorite candy. Peach gummies they're called. Recently they stopped carrying them in our local gas stations. How dare they right? So I went online and ordered a 5 pound bag. Haha well it'll last us a minute...hopefully. It was the smallest you could buy but this candy is worth it. I ghetto wrote on the bag, "here's to our cinematic adventure nights!" but it was thoughtful and loving and he loved it. Then on Saturday I got us a couples massage. We needed it. Both of us are tense and in pain because of stress we hold in our necks and David's left shoulder blade so obviously we loved it. We were almost talked into the year long membership until we remembered we're poor...but that's how nice it was.

The point is, take some time to appreciate your loved ones no matter what day it is. Be thoughtful. Be kind. It'll pay off and you may even get some love back. :)

She is...

Saying "blah blah blah blah blah" and "dadadadadada"
Crossing her ankles all the time like the lady she is
Laughing at herself every time after she sneezes
Peeing in the bath all the time...and to date pooped once too. (haha I was working. Poor David)
Loving her parents and getting really excited when she sees us
Whining if the food isn't shoveled in her mouth fast enough
Rolling over from her tummy to her back more. (4 times today!)
Smiling every time I kiss her cheek
Hitting whatever she can with her hand when she's excited. Grandma just sticks her hand under Kyla's hand and calls that a "high five" haha

Just a little update on the nugget. I find myself not wanting to forget anything! It's all too great. :)

Love Day

Love day is always pretty mellow at our house. This year was no exception. I worked that night so David came home a little early. He got me chocolate covered strawberries as always, bless his guts, and a cute basket filled with lots of treats. David got some white chocolate macadamien nut cookies. Gag. But he loves them so there you go. My cute gifts :)

The biggest thing on my mind was something I was reminded of recently. Love is so great but marriages have to be worked at a little. My little tips for myself...and for my future self re-reading this post. Improve and try to be better for the other person (if not your own happiness) and nurture and build the other person up more then you think you need to just because. Celebrate love everyday and share that with your love. Don't be so critical because there will always be little things if you're looking for them. Be positive and you'll be surprised how those little things aren't even there anymore. Hug each other like you may just never let go and laugh together all the time. Talk about everything (GOOD and bad) and be supportive and compassionate to your love's thoughts. Learn and build and let it go. Be patient and don't expect perfection since you're not giving that yourself. Relish in all the good times and never forget the times that pop up as perfection when you're not looking. Love is too marvelous to let it slip so always do the things above and it won't. I love love and I won't take the love I got with my man for granted. :)

We did get away for a date night on Friday. David's mom was in town so she babysat and we went to sushi and a movie. It felt reckless. Haha like we were childless or something. It was great to spend some one on one time together. Later that night we went out with some friends to take some night pictures up the canyon. It was freezing so I bundled up until I thought I would be hot. We all drove together and when we got there Kateka and I stood outside for probably 5 minutes before getting back in the car because the wind and cold was too much. Haha such girls. Anyways the guys shot for like 3 hours which meant Kateka and I sat for like 3 hours but we still had a fun time. Eating candy/talking about what city girls we are/climbing into the front seats for the seat warmers without touching the cars leather seats with our wet shoes...good times. David, Stu, and Brady got some great shots that I will have to do a whole separate post about. They're pretty great. Either way we had a bedtime of 3:30am that night so we really were reckless.

Hope you all had wonderful love days and even if the concept is stupid I hope you don't take love in whatever shape or form you have it for granted.

Tales from the ER

A lot of this post is done in true Liz sarcasm so please read accordingly. Thanks.

Just a recommendation...don't take 84 soma. (a muscle relaxer) It's not a good idea. I hope that lady lived. It was sketch to say the least. Also don't be a stupid teenage girl and take 100 ibuprofen. It may get you attention but then we lock you in a room with nothing since you're suicidal and you're left alone. Shoot. Mission accomplished? Didn't think so.

Hey drug seekers? I can smell you from a mile away. Literally. Because you always smell of stale stale smoke. You fell in your kitchen/down the stairs/rounding a corner..either way your ankle is broken and you're sure of it. Your pain on a scale from 1-10? An 11 always. Your ankle always comes back totally normal and then we charge you 13 times as much for 800mg ibuprofen and send you home. Don't hospital bounce within IHC. We share notes and we know exactly what you're doing.

Don't bring your kid here for a sore throat. This is an ER, not your docs office or an instacare. I've had 3 people in the last week tell someone they're on the phone with that they are at their drs. No you're not. Instead of saying, "what are we seeing you for?" I'm going to start saying, "what's your emergency?" if you can answer that question without saying, "wellllll......" then you are welcome in my ER.

We had a 20 yr old yesterday with extremely high potassium. That causes heart attacks just in case you didn't know. Not a good thing to have too much potassium. Anyways she went from walking in and giving us a urine sample to having a crash cart in her room and her heart rate over 200 in a matter of minutes. I was in the middle of a conversation with one of the techs when he realized that she was about to crash so everyone ran in there calling for the dr stat and started pushing drugs to prevent a heart attack. She wasn't in one of our trauma rooms but she wasn't stable enough to move so everyone was packed in rm 7 which is right in front of my desk. So I sat and watched. It's a very interesting process to take in. That poor girl. Well she never ended up crashing because of all the meds they pushed so she was just taken right up to an ICU bed. Then the tech returned to pick up our convo right where we left off. Just in the business of saving lives folks.

There is a new question that is causing quite the hoopla lately. Tell me your opinion people. I ask, "are you Hispanic, Latino, or of Spanish origin?" are you offended? Then I ask, "and your race as you'd like it listed?" Listen, these aren't as tricky as you think they are. Are you Hispanic? No? Then say no. Is your mother Chilean? Then say yes. Your race...please don't give me a hard time about asking this. It's a legal question and I cannot speculate. Trust me when I say I couldn't care less what you are. So calm down and tell me. Also I don't have an option for 50/50 so just pick one. I also don't care if you're 1/16 something so don't bother going into it, this is not a family history question. Lets move on. Overall I haven't had much push back from pts, it has been from ER staff. One dr told me I can't ask that question and do you know what I said? "I'm pretty sure the people auditing my accounts don't care about little old you and your opinion so I'll be asking it until I'm told not to by them." He caused major drama and got an email from the CEO from the hospital telling him to piper down. So that you are all briefed, its a Joint Commission requirement that we ask these questions and its for statistical purposes. Census. Just like the government, isn't it? Well either way, it's not me. People have the option not to answer if they'd prefer not to but really most people are ok with it and it's not that big of a deal so if you're not ok with it I hope this post helped change your mind.

Xoxo and junk.
