The Cabin

David's mom and step dad have an amazing cabin. We love going down there. In the 5 years I have known this family I have spent a lot of time at that cabin. We have snowshoed up there in the winter and have spent several family reunions there in the summers. We stayed up there Memorial Day weekend and the weekend after for Darrell's funeral. This cabin has been in Ted's family for years. Well on Saturday we got some terrible news. It burned down. There was a gas leak. Luckily no one was there. It was a big enough fire that the neighbors saw the flames and called David's little sister Allie to let her know after they called the fire dept. Everything was ruined except the dutch ovens. All of Ted's animal mounts, the pictures, Ted's 22 rifle, Jeremiah's bike. The trees around are scorched and will have to come down. This includes the tree that the trolley you could ride down was on. Some of my favorite memories of the cabin are
1. The very first time I went to the cabin I saw a little boy running with the antlers of a deer his dad had just killed. I was screaming "Oh little boy! Little boy what are you doing?"
2. Bon Fires at the fire pit
3. Dance parties! We actually danced around that living room a lot. Including the last time we were there. Allie did the cupid shuffle with me :]
4. Making David check for bugs every night in our bed before I'd climb in.
5. Finding a dead mouse in a box of triscuts.
6. Waking up to Ted restarting the fire in the middle of night.
7. Lots and lots of laugh at Liz moments because I'm not an "outdoorsy girl"
8. Eating licorice and sitting around just talking about anything and everything
9. Eating Ted's amazing carmel popcorn at night.
10. Playing lots of games including just plain old fighting with each other
11. Brushing my teeth with a bottle of water.
12. Getting away from the hustle and the bustle. And having the temp be atleast 10 degrees cooler.
13. Sitting on camp chairs with the whole family laughing and enjoying each other without distractions.
Here's a cute pic of Wendy and Terry by the front door. Here is what it looks like now...

The fire was so hot it melted the glass from the windows after they imploded

The most important thing here is that no one was hurt. I've had several life lessons lately teaching me I cannot take things for granted. This is just another lesson I've learned. Appreciate what you have but remember that material things are replaceable. Enjoy the people you're with and the memories you make more.

Finished

David has finished the entertainment center! It looks great. I have to say I feel very lucky to have such a talented man for a husband. I'll lend him out to you if he ever has any extra time ;]He did the majority a dark stain but left the natural pine color for the top and bottom piece. (ps David spent like 45 minutes organizing our DVDs and Blu Rays by category. Yes category i.e. : Action, Disney, Comedy, "Liz's" Drama haha)
Yes I know we have a lot of movies. We're kinda movie buffs. Come watch them with us anytime!

SYTYCD Top 10

If you didn't see my last blog about So You Think You Can Dance you just need to know that I love it. This season I am bugged a little. Member how I said that I didn't understand the whole all stars thing. Well I haven't really changed my opinion about that but I have a new thing to complain about. The judges. Ok I'm just throwing this out there...what happened to Mary Murphy? I miss her crazy screaming about the hot tamale train. I love Mary and Nigel. They're great. I also liked it when they brought a different choreographer on each week as a guest judge. Now they have Nigel, Mia Michaels, and Adam Shankman every week. I love Mia as a choreographer. As a judge, she sucks. "That was like a YAY, that was a YAY". What kind of a comment is that? And Adam, when Cat Deeley asks you a question you answer the question and shut up. For example-Cat: "Adam I know we have to lose someone every Thursday, but you said she was muy caliente. What went wrong?" Adam: "Christina you were great last night, really I'm shocked. I need to say something very very quickly. Some people thought we (the judges) were very harsh last night and I have to just say for the record that not us, not the choreographers, or the dancers are above criticism. And a professional takes it." Then he tries to kinda pull it back to Christina since she was who he was supposed to be talking about. "Oh and I know you'll take the criticism and you'll slaughter it tonight." I find you extremely obnoxious Adam. Can you take that criticism? K thanks.
Anyways to the dances. I have 2 favorites at this point. Lauren and Kent. I LOVED both of their dances this week. I don't care what the judges say I thought Kent was sexy. Yep I said it. For a boy from a farm I thought he was great. And Lauren I think is trying to make people like her more then actually enjoying the dancing but I guess its working because I like her. What do you guys think?

Pillow Talk

I totally talk in my sleep. If I'm taking a nap and you ask me something, I'll not only answer you but I'll have a full on convo with you. You'll think it was great and bring it up later and I will have no idea what you're talking about. Its really not that great of a thing because David could totally take advantage and say I told him he could...buy that new video game for example. (I don't think he's ever done that but its a possibility) David never talks in his sleep. If he is talking to you he's awake. One time I was telling him goodbye in the morning when I was leaving for work and when I told him I loved him he said "I love you too. A loooooooooooot." He didn't remember that later but that's the extent of his sleep talking...well until Wednesday night.
I go to bed before David. I'm a pretty deep sleeper so I don't normally wake up when he gets in bed or anything. The other night I was asleep on my back (which I never go to sleep on so normally that means I'm pretty deep asleep) when my arm twitched out to the side. I must have kinda woke myself up because I knew my arm had just twitched. David sits up and says "Liz. LIZ!" I was like "What?!" I thought I might have missed my alarm (which would not be the first time) or something because his tone was so urgent. Then he asked me if I had just moved. I answered "Yes, I think my arm twitched." He responded "Oh, I thought there was a lizard in our bed." Hahaha then he rolled over and kinda sighed so I knew he was having a Liz moment in his sleep. I should have checked the clock to see what time this went down but I was too tired so I just laughed myself right back into a coma. The next day I sent him an email that said.."Did you make it to work alright or did the lizard in our bed get you?" He had no idea what I was talking about. Welcome to the club David, and I must say for your first time you were pretty great!

So You Think You Can Dance

I'm so in love with this show! I wish I could even begin to explain how much love is burning in my bosom when I think/talk about SYTYCD. This new season is off to a weird start for me though. For the most part I like the dancers, but I don't like the new system of having them dance with "All Stars". What if I don't consider the dancers they picked "All Stars"? Comfort? Really? She's not an All Star. I love some of the veterans that are back like Twitch but then I just watch him the whole time instead of the new person that I'm supposed to be falling in love with. I think they're trying to mix it up so the show is "fresh". I thought it was plenty fresh before thank you. Don't try to fix something that isn't broken is what I say.
Watching this show makes me miss dancing more then I ever thought I could. Its like someone died. Oh I did. I mean the dancing part of me really just up and died one day. I've never been able to get back into it the way I want to. I am now the girl that no one wants at the class because she's just in the way and you can't see around her to the choreographer. I just wish I could jump back in right where I left off talent wise and then start growing from there. Oh in a perfect world right?
Anyways, back to the show. Recently I looked up some of my favorite dances from seasons past. Nothings changed, they're still my favorite. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this dance. And this dance. And this dance. And this dance. And probably this dance too. Ok maybe I could go on all day. What I'm trying to get across here is that I can't get enough of dances like these. Hopefully we'll get some amazing dances this season!

"Why do I dance? Why do I breathe?"

Round 2...maybe

So I joined a gym. For the most part I'm really liking it. The only thing is its tough when your mind thinks you can do things that your body is saying no way to. I'm thinking now that I'm working out in a structured environment I should go off sugar again and see what happens. I'm sick of being so insecure about the clothes I'm wearing or whatever. I need to be slightly more dedicated to the gym and I need to watch what I eat. I want results so I have to stop half heartedly going after it. I'm bugged today for some reason. Back when I was dancing 5 days a week, I never had to think about what I ate or what I could or couldn't wear to fit my "body type". After getting on arthritis meds and stopping dance I am in a completely different place then I want to be. I'm so done just complaining about it though. I'm nervous because if we get technical I've never lost weight. I have slowly worked my way up to where I am right now. I don't know exactly what my body needs and whats going to work. I guess I just go after it and learn as I go. I'm still thinking about no sugar at all or just limiting myself...I'll let you know :]
