Postive Thinking

I will be the first to admit I am definitely a negative thinker by nature. I try to think of a positive in every situation but its easier to think of the negative first and prepare yourself for the worst. I just thought I'd write down a few things I'm grateful for...
1. A wonderful, talented husband who is working so hard in life
2. The drywall being done in the basement (one step closer to having these men out of my house and the silence that I love back.)
3. Brownies (so I gained more weight while being off sugar and I was annoyed. That led to making brownies and eating to my hearts content. I'm getting a gym membership tomorrow)
4. Weeks when I know I have a day off work. I have this Friday off and couldn't be more excited about it.
5. Family dinner on Sundays
6. Water (haha but you have to admit, its refreshing and hits the spot sometimes)
7. Movie nights with David. We watched Everybody's Fine last night. Its kinda heartbreaking but it made us think about what a great life we have and how much we love our parents. It definitely teaches you about how to treat your loved ones around you.

I really do have a blessed life. Thank you all for being a part of it :]

Whoopsie..

David and I are in the middle of finishing the basement as you may have read about. Its a lot more work then I ever knew. Jacob is moving in soon so we are trying to get it done as fast as we can. David is also working full time and going to school 3 days a week so you could say he's been a little stressed. With next week being spring break he decided to take off next Thursday and Friday to relax a little and work on the basement. I decided that taking off next Friday might be fun. We really haven't spent anytime together the last few weeks so why not work on the basement together and maybe even talk a little if we're feeling crazy enough. I called my boss today to make sure that was ok, he was in a pretty great mood and said sure no prob. Its quitting time at work so I'm stoked because its the end of the day and I'm stoked for next Friday off. I take off (forgetting my coat at work in my rush of excitement) and grab my phone as I'm walking out to text David the good news. The text I sent said "Derek said I could have next Friday off with you! :)" I must have been slightly distracted because I sent this text to my boss Derek. Super! He text me back and said "Was this meant for me?" I peed when I saw I sent it to him and wrote back "Nope hahaha". Luckily I didn't say something like "That horrible boss of mine is FINALLY letting me have a day off" cause I can totally see something like that happening to me. As I already mentioned he was in a good mood because he text me back and said "Enjoy UR day off". On a totally different subject why do people take the time to write UR instead of adding 2 more letters to make YOUR? I have never understood that, but to each his own right?
As you may already know I'm trying to lose a couple pounds for my friends wedding that is rapidly approaching. Just so you are aware of where I'm at, I've gained 3 pounds. I've been trying to be more consistent about exercising because I think that's seriously my downfall..and maybe in-and-out chocolate shakes. Last night David and I went for a walk around our development. Picture this..
David: fully dressed in jeans and a long sleeve polo carrying a mag light flashlight.
Liz: Dressed in PJs but I did color coordinate my sweatshirt and tennis shoes.
Why did David have a mag light you might ask? Well just in case someone tries to mug us of course! Every few minutes he turned it on swept the entire area in front and behind us and turned it off and kept walking. I'm married to a nerd..and I love it.

Sugar Free?

I may or may not have had a In-and-Out chocolate shake yesterday. Yes I'm slightly disappointed in myself but hey it could be so worse. Yesterday was day 21 without any sugar and I decided one small chocolate shake wouldn't throw me off too bad. I am NOT quitting the no sugar..I just took a momentary step back. I'm still going from day 22 but I'm not denying that I had one little weak moment. Still have 3 weeks to go until I can buy myself (yes just myself) a flat of chocolate covered strawberries :]

ND

This may be my most random post to date but I just have thoughts that I think its time to share. North Dakota. I don't think anyone lives there. I'm tempted to move there just because I think traffic would be AMAZING. I have never met anyone from North Dakota, I worked for UPS for a year and never shipped a package there or received any mail from there. My friend Abby says she has some family that lives there but I don't know them so how do I know for sure? I don't. This is just letting you in to the crazy thoughts I have going through my head at all times.

On another note I have a constant headache because of the banging going on in my basement. I've been hounding David saying we have to get the basement done, lets go go go. Now I'm begging him to stop. Just give me a minute of peace and how about a minute with my husband maybe. Nope not going to happen he keeps telling me. Oh well we'll have time to spend together when we're dead right? Thats not the saying...we'll have time to rest when we're dead. Well either way at this point. :]

Already...

We're finishing our basement! Yes that's a lot faster then we planned and yes we just moved in in July. But we figured while we can we may as well. Plus we just recently decided to have David's brother Jacob move in with us and downstairs is the perfect place to give him some of his own space. I'm so lucky to have a husband who knows how to fix/build anything and is so curious that if he doesn't know how to do it he learns. Plus he has some GREAT friends who are helping with everything! So far we've just done the framing but already it has taken shape and I can't wait to finish it. This is as you come down the stairs. The entrance used to be on the right but we ripped the wall out and it looks way more openThe future bathroomThe future bedroom

We still have a long road ahead of us. The goal is to have it done by the end of March..Crazy? Yes.

My new buddy!

David and I LOVE kids and can't wait to have our own little ones but in the meantime we settle for other's little ones. Our friends Shelli and Kelly are 2 of the hardest workers I've ever met. Between juggling their jobs, school, and their little guy Noah they never get time just the two of them. David and I don't have a ton of down time but compared to Shelli and Kelly we look like lazy bums. So we decided we'd offer to watch Noah for a night while they got a rare date night. This little man is one of the cutest little boys ever, I swear, so I couldn't wait to watch him. Here are some of the activities we did that night...
Played with my measuring cups! They may or may not have forgot their toy bag...so we improvised with measuring cups and plastic spoons.Played keep away with plastic spoonsWalked ALL over the house like the big boy I'm not ready for him to beRead David an article from SELF magazineAnd cuddled with both of us!

David and I had such a fun night with him and let me tell you, that nights sleep was one of the most solid nights I've had in a while!

3's a crowd

Lately David's back has been hurting him a lot so we've had a friend in our bed with us...
It doesn't get old at all having this pushed at you all night in the "roomy" king size bed I got talked into buying! Before David and I were married I referred to his body pillow as "the other women", so one day I asked if she had a name and David told me it was Liz. He's the luckiest guy in the world if you ask me. 2 Liz's, one bed what could be better ;]
