Catch Up

So after 4 loooooooooooooooong months we have the Internet back!! You have no idea the joy I feel everyday when I get home from work and I realize I can check my email and my facebook. We almost didn't get it back this week...Comcast was supposed to show up between 1-5 on Tuesday. Well at 4:45 I called David and told him that he might want to call Comcast and see if they were EVER going to come because I've waited 4 months and 1 more day at this point would kill me. They were running behind because of the snow and they couldn't find our address because we don't pull up on GPS yet. Finally he gets here around 6 and I open the door in my PJ's to hear "Uh we have a problem..and its a big one too". I don't want to hear it cable guy. You fix the problem because I have lived without this for 4 months and I've read 8 books and I'm done. I want mindless entertainment on cable and I want to not live in 1942 and have the Internet so you FIX IT! I'm glad David was here because he handles these things much better then me! The problem was the box is on the other side of our walkway and he cant run any cords that go across a sidewalk or our porch. David convinces him that since its just our walkway and not a public sidewalk why doesn't he just run it and then have the man come on the 12th on Nov and redo it then. The creepy cable man agreed to do that for us..bless him. So now I'm back and I'm playing catch up!
For the 24th of July we went down to David's family's cabin for the Cleveland Ut parade/family reunion. Most of his cousins were there and we had such a fun time! I've heard David talk about the Cleveland dance the entire time I've known him but I had never been to it. Its held the night of the 24th and they do fireworks too. So we all piled in his cousin's truck, (literally all 12 of us) danced and sang the entire way there, and I pretty much peed my pants all night laughing. Here's some of us watching the fireworks. They were great too..considering its Cleveland Ut :]
As I told you in my last post we went to Japan to see David's dad Scott and his wife Sumi again. He got re-baptized and it was so cool to be there and watch my husband baptize him. Scott had to work most the time while we were there but we got to do some really fun things! We went to Cirque Du Soleil for my birthday and a Jazz music festival for Scott's. We went to a kitchen district full of nothing but plates, bowls, chopsticks and plastic food to display if you are opening your own restaurant. We also had a magical train ride. Scott had to work the day we went to Kappabashi kitchen district so David was in charge of knowing which train we transferred to when and where it was going to take us. It was cake on the way there and that night we arrived at 8:50 or so to catch the 9:09 rapid train back to the stop where Scott was picking us up. There was only one line that we could take to get to that stop and it was the Chuo line. A common way of committing suicide in Japan is to jump in front of trains. A sad soul decided to jump in front of the Chuo line a few stops down from where we were at 8:49 prohibiting us not just from taking the rapid train home but really from taking any train home. It should have taken us an hour to get home but it took us 3.5. We kept transferring from line to line trying to get as far as we could before we didn't have an option but to wait for the Chuo line to start again. In the middle of one of our other line ventures we stop dead in between 2 platforms because lo and behold the Chuo line started again and we needed to wait for them so they could try and get caught up. I was losing my mind by this point of course and I told David I was just going to go on a punching spree because they were going to have to move the train if some crazy lady was punching everyone. Then the police can come for me and at least I'll get to sit down at the police station. Luckily we started moving not too long after I threatened that. "The Incident" backed up several commuters on their way home so to say that the trains were packed is completely understated. Luckily David was a genius about which lines to take to get us as far as we could before we had to join the LOADS of people on the Chuo line. Here is a pic of me on the train that night along with a couple other Japan pics.

We are loving our new house. Its so crazy for me to think of this being my house and not just where my stuff is for the moment. I know we're extremely blessed to be able to own a home. The moving part however...lets just say there were 3 things I wasn't a huge fan of. They were
1. Packing
2. Moving
3. Unpacking
Luckily we had amazing friends and family that helped!

Here are Kateka and I trying to cool off by the vent after running boxes up and down the stairs for an hour! Here David and I are trying to cool down with some popsicles on the day of the move
Here is our disaster of a new house the next day

Life without internet and cable...

David and I are in our house! (I'm writing this at my mother's house so pictures will have to come later) We love the new house and are settling in. Since its such a new development Comcast has not set services up there yet. August 20 is when they say I can rejoin the rest of the world. Can I just say its horrible...cable ok you can probably handle no cable for a couple months but not having internet is slowly sucking the very life from me. I know you think I'm dramatic but the bottom line is I'm addicted to facebook and blogs and I've been suffering some sleepless nights due to the withdrawals. I guess I don't have any options but to come see my parents more so I can sit in their basement and get my fix. Don't worry about me, I'll be back in full force around the 20th!
The house is great but Ivory still blows. They left the sprinklers on all night on Thursday and we had the pleasure of experiencing our first flooded basement Friday. Our next door neighbor Marco had a lot more damage then we did but the water came up through our foundation so Ivory now has to come and inspect it. Can't you just see my next blog being about how they are ripping our home up because our foundation is jacked! My advice..don't use Ivory Homes. The house is gorgeous but they struggle. We're already talking to a lawyer about what we can get out of Ivory because they've been nothing but unhelpful and difficult.
David and I are leaving the country on August 28th. Back to Japan we go!! David's dad is still living there and we were able to go see him last June. Now we get to go back. We are thrilled. If you know me at all you know that I'm all about birthdays. I'll be honest, I LOVE my birthday. Everyone says its because I'm young and someday I will dread August 30th but I don't think so! I count down the whole month (by the way 22 days left!!) If you haven't put 2 and 2 together I will be in Tokyo for my 21st birthday! Sick huh. Vegas..no way.. Japan. We will also be there for David's dad Scott's birthday. Yay 2 birthdays in one vacation. I'm a lucky lucky girl!
Well I must go back to moving furniture while my mom has her upstairs recarpeted. Its been nice to be back for a brief moment and know that I'll be back full force as soon as Comcast steps up and wants to receive my money again!

Whiplash/Ants

So as you may already know, the closing date of last Wednesday completely fell through. David and I didn't find out of course until after we had packed the apt and taken off work to move. What a disaster. Ivory then tells us they don't know when we'll close and its on the city of West Jordan now because they have to do their inspection so we're waiting on them. When David called the city of West Jordan to ask when the inspection was scheduled they told him we don't have anything scheduled with Ivory. Hmmmm that's interesting. So David sent an email to the superintendent and now we are closing this Friday. It is in stone and they cannot pull any more shenanigans! I think I might need a chiropractor after all the jerking around Ivory has pulled but at last I think we're going to own a house this Friday!!
It came just in time, the ants at our apt were about to carry us away to eat since there is nothing else. Monday I woke up to my kitchen counters moving only to realize that some juice had gotten on the counter along with the cup in the sink and it had been taken over by some little moochers. Then Tuesday morning I wake up to a line of ants all the up my wall and across the ceiling to a sealed bag of raisins on top of the fridge. It was a big line so I woke David up to help me clean it up. He followed the line all the way down the hall, into our room, and behind our dresser. GROSS! That's the stretch of the house they traveled. David vacuumed the whole house at 5 am. I get home Tuesday expecting no ants since we have thrown everything out that would attract them, only to find them going after our cough drops! Are you kidding me..David this time decided to put a trap where they take the food back to their queen and it kills her (bahahaha). Well we have horribly selfish ants because about an hour later I had a counter full of dead ants. They had eaten from the trap in the open cabinet and then fallen to the counter where they spazzed out for a minute and then died. I had to take a picture because I was so grossed out. Don't scroll down if you have an ant phobia..you've been warned.

D Day

The time has come. We're moving next Tuesday/Wednesday! FINALLY. So its going to be fairly stressful to pack our apt, clean our apt, paint a couple walls in our apt, and then unpack in our new house in the next 3 days. Right now as I type this post I'm surrounded by an explosion of boxes. You never realize how much stuff you own! We went to the house yesterday and its completely done except the power isn't on yet. If we had moved two weeks ago like planned life would be very simple right now. Enjoying our new house and wondering where we packed the waffle iron. But it didn't happen and now we move on the same day David's dad Scott gets here from Japan and I have a bridal shower that I'm helping throw for my friend Jess. Also on Friday we leave to head to Price for the Barham Family Reunion. So one day to unpack and then pack for Price! It always hits at once doesn't it! Well even with the stressfulness of it David and I cant wait to be in our house! Such a big step. I'm freaking out a little at what a big step it is but my new kitchen alone is worth it! What will it be like to have counter space and drawers?? I'll let you know when I've gotten used to it! I'm sure it will be amazing. Wish us luck..and if you don't hear from me in 2 weeks, you know we didn't make it.

A Day of DOOFUSES

So David and I yesterday were just relaxing and decided to go to lunch with my mom. We took my beautiful Hyundai, Lilly. Like normal people we stopped at the red light, and like it normally does it eventually turned green, then we felt a sudden jolt and realized the DOOFUS behind us had hit our car. She decided when the light turned green she should hit her gas whether or not the car in front of her (us) had moved yet. David proceeds to get out of our car as the lady gets out of hers then she says "Why did you back into me?" David keeping his cool says "ma'am there is no way I backed into you". When he tells me she said this I start to shake a little. Its a good thing David can be so calm because it makes up for me being the rager in our family! Anyway we pull into a parking lot and the lady asks me do you know what happened..I started laughing and said "We got hit that's what happened." Well we look and there is a little scratch on my car but its not too bad. I get her number just in case we need to call her and she gets in her car to leave. As she is pulling out she drives over one of those cement blocks that divide the parking stalls.. she is probably right WE backed into her! Then the strangeness continues with a black truck pulling up to make sure we're ok. Trying to be all smooth the guys like we do body work. He gets out of his car and looks at Lilly's poor body that struggles in some places. David and I have looked into getting some of the dents fixed before but it was going to cost us 1500 dollars or so, needless to say we never did it. They introduce themselves as Frank and Lee the mechanics. They tell us they could fix all the dents and scratches for 275.00 dollars. David and I are like come on. We're not that stupid. They tell us they have all the tools in their truck and they will follow us to wherever and fix with us watching if we'd like. They talk about how hard times are for them and for some reason I start to trust that they might do a good job. David and I step aside and we're talking about if its worth it. We know that this deal wont come around again. Here comes the part where I'm a doofus.. We say yes. So they follow us to Jasmine and David, Frank, Lee, Me, and my Mom stand around my car while they start pounding out the dents. I think they're doing great (course I don't know much about cars) David is watching closely, My mom is telling me what and idiot I am, and Frank and Lee are chatting us up about their families and lives. They pound away and then rub some wax on the car. David at this point realized that we had been taken because they really didn't do anything, but I'm oblivious and still happy with this great deal! We eat lunch and go wipe off the wax. As I'm staring at my car I just start crying because we have been saving so much money for our new house and we just wasted 250.00 dollars on a couple of doofuses. Here is the thing. I don't think they were smart enough to be scam artists, I think they thought they did a good job. I just keep telling myself that they needed the money and I was able to help them and their families. (I know, but it makes me feel better about it) David was so great with helping me as I'm bawling understand that its just a lesson we'll learn and laugh about later. I'm not laughing yet however.

Ivory Ivory Ivory

So our long awaited house is DONE! Oh don't be too excited for us because our lovely superintendent forgot to schedule the utilities to be set up. Now the companies can't make it until the end of June so July it is for us to move in. Don't be thrown off by the promise of a move at the end of May and then June 12th readjust your mind around July. Thank you Ivory for building a wonderful house for us to look at once a week or so! So worth the money ;)

Oquirrh Mountain Temple

David and I got to go through the Oquirrh Mountain Temple today with our friends Shelli and Kelly. Its gorgeous! I was thinking about how cool it is that we have a ton of temples surrounding us. Since we're moving to West Jordan this temple will be the one we go to most often. It was a fun morning, Thanks for letting us come with you guys Shelli and Kelly!
