Whats that face girlfriend?

Since Kyla and I spend all day everyday together I get to see every funny face and I am always trying (most the time failing) to get them on camera. Here are some funny face shots as well as just pictures of the little one.
The 'I'm hungry' Face
Just scoping things out

Smiling in her sleep

Comfy?

Lost in a very deep thought

Her bright eyes in the morning

Trying to figure Suzi the cow out

Her Buddies

Her big smiles are the best things I've ever seen

I love the sparkle in her eyes

Cousins

David and I have very different cousin situations. All my cousins are older then me. At family parties growing up the closest one to my age is 10 years older then me so Alec and I didn't have much in common with them. In David's family there are atleast 3 cousins around the same age for each age group. Even though David lived far away he is extremely close with his cousins and now that we live close we spend a lot of time with them. My brother Alec and sister in law Megan have my nephew Jack and they are going to be having their second nugget in Dec so Kyla with have a couple cousins right around her age. Jack has already been so cute with Kyla and I think they'll have a lot of fun at future family partays. Here are some cute pictures of the two of them.

These next pics are our failed attempts to get a cute shot of them together. Haha Jack was in no mood for pictures :]

Apparently neither was Kyla

Harry Potter Bash

David's work 1800contacts does a big event every summer. This was Kyla's first big event. We debated about whether to go or not since she was only a month old but decided she'd be fine so we'd go. Then we debated and debated on how long to stay and what time to go. We decided that we had to be there for the prizes just in case one of us won something this year (yeah right). So I packed Kyla's bag, Stu and Kateka came to get me since David was already there working, we stocked up at 711 and off we went. Contacts for sure knows how to throw a party. It was themed Harry Potter this year. They had actors dressed up as the characters from Harry Potter, they had quidditch matches, and everyone got a wand and bag of "gallons" you could use for your snow cone and other goodies. I pretty much chilled on a blanket by the stage the whole time...by myself...but it was a nice day out and Kyla did really well. It was fun to see our friends and they had a comedy show that I actually kinda peed at. Then it was time for prizes. I intently listened the whole time and towards the end gave up on us winning anything like usual so I stopped paying attention. I was talking to Kateka when all the sudden David was jumping up and screaming next to me. WHAT just happened? Well we had just won a grill! Technically David  had just won the grill but I propose that I won just as much since I get to eat the food that David makes on this grill :]. He was definitely over the top excited (he made Kyla jump when he started screaming) but he did explain later that everyone that wins acts like they're way too cool to be excited about anything let alone this free vacation they just won so he was going to be excited about his grill. Haha Lets just say that we're glad we were inspired to stay for the prizes. All in all a pretty good day.

Birthday Month

So I like to celebrate my birth for the entire month of August. I got lucky with August 30th as my birthday so I get the whole month to celebrate. The hubs already gave me my birthday present. An iPad 2!! (which I'm totally typing this blog post on btw) Oh how I love it. No real reason or getting it early other then that I knew what I was getting so he just surprised me with when I got it. Now I can read books, surf the web, and blog when I go back to work. I also got my birthday dinner with my mother in law Kelly and sister in law Allie at a place of my choosing. Guess where I chose? A real classy joint called Wingers. I love it so much. This month is off to a great start. Can't wait or the rest of it!

Love Plant

The other day there was the familiar knock at my door from the ups man. We're besties. Anyhoo he had a box for me from 1800flowers. Who is sending me flowers in a box? I start to try to open my box which turns out to be a joke. 1800flowers does not mess around. This is what I was dealing with...

Yeah, told ya. After putting some serious muscle into getting the box open, I realized there was no card attached to the plant. It was on the outside of the box. I open the card which has no name attached with the message, however, it did say I was the love of this persons life and talked about marriage so using my detective skills I narrowed it down to...David. It's a bonsai tree (a little shelf size one) with pretty orange flowers. Why did he send me this? Just because he was thinking about me and wanted to tell me that he loved me. Marriages go through ups and downs just like this bonsai tree blooms and then loses the flowers before it blooms again. I'm lucky enough to have a man who not only knows this about marriage but points it out to me with a gorgeous tree. This speech makes it sound like he was giving me a little pep talk or something but he actually chose to point this out during a "blooming" period for us and that makes me love him even more. Our little love plant..

Scott's Visit

You know how some people don't like their inlaws? I think that's sad. I really love mine. David's dad Scott was just here from Japan and we got to spend a lot of time with him. What a fun time we had. There were lots of dinners, diet cokes, shopping, movies, traveling between our house and nana's house, spicy food, laughing, and of course Kyla time :) David was able to take a week off from work so I was spoiled with time with my loves and help with the night shift! It was uhhmazing. It also pushed David and me to dive right into some firsts with Kyla. Her first movie in a movie theatre, first shopping trip to Park City, and first time being fed and changed in a restaurant. We definitely don't get to see Scott enough so we soak up the time we have...however, he told us he's already suffering some serious withdrawals from holding Kyla so maybe we'll get to see him more then once a year from now on :). Either way there will be lots of facetimeing in the near future. Thank goodness for technology right.

Kyla's Blessing

While David's dad was here from Japan we decided to bless Kyla. A little earlier then "normal" but who cares about the norm? Kyla was blessed in the same dress my mom and I were blessed in. She looked beautiful. Lots of family and friends were able to make it and I'm so glad they came because there wasn't even lunch to bribe them. We decided that since she was still so young we'll do a lunch this month instead. I was terrified she'd have a burp and scream bloody murder during it but she didn't and her amazing dad gave her a beautiful blessing. I am grateful that I have a husband who is worthy to bless our babygirl. My Aunt Chris was able to shorthand it for us (bless her heart) so someday we can show Kyla and remind her of the blessings that have been promised to her from birth. Here are some family pics from the happy day.
