From a Kids Perspective

I have two adorable kid stories for you.

As you may know I teach the 7 yr olds in primary. They have a lot of input and stories they want to share. This last weeks lesson was on Daring to do right. We talked about the game Truth or Dare. I don't even remember the last time I played Truth or Dare. When I think of this game I automatically think of inappropriate dares (anybody else or is it just me that thinks this game pushes standards?) Maybe I was just playing with the wrong crowd but I was kinda nervous to hear what the kids in my class had been dared to do. One adorable little girl in my class didn't know what the game was so I asked Kade to tell everyone how you play. He explained that you flip a coin and if it lands on tails you have to tell the truth about the question your asked and if it lands on heads you have to do a dare. Back in my day you got to pick what you wanted to do. I started to say that's not how I grew up playing..but stopped myself because I realized I was like that old person that tells you they never did that when they were young. Anyways he continued on to tell me the worst thing he had been dared was to kiss a tree! Or the time when he had to drink a water bottle without stopping! I love his stories because he is adorable but I did have to start giving him strikes because he interrupts me to tell his stories. 3 strikes and he couldn't play our game with us at the end of class. He got to 2 strikes and then behaved. Bless his innocent 7 yr old heart.

At the hospital I check in some of the cutest kids ever. I will admit I have my favorite ages. 2-7 and then 15 and up. The kids that land in between 7 and 15 are cute too don't get me wrong but I don't have much to talk to them about. Then the other day I met an 11 yr old boy who immediately got added to my 'I would steal if I could' list. He was telling me about how he comes to the dr a lot and has had several surgeries. The procedure was a stint removal so I said "well a removal is better then some other surgeries right?" He told me yes but that it still hurts. He said last time he came in for a stint removal they told him it wouldn't hurt at all and when he went to the bathroom later he thought to himself "they lied!" It stings and felt like there were a ton of bees stinging him. I said "I'm so sorry bud!" He said "It's ok, I think they told me so that I wouldn't be scared." (not a mature kid at all, right?) He also told me he is going to grow up to be a nephrologist (a kidney specialist) so that if anybody came in with the same problems he had they wouldn't have to go through all the testing he did. He would already know what was wrong with them. I literally fell in love with this kiddo when he was at my desk for 4 minutes. That was supposed to be his last surgery for a long time so I hope I don't see him again soon. Even in those few minutes he made an impression on me with his outlook on life and his sweet spirit.

I've decided I'm going to start writing down more of these cute stories so I can remember them. Hope you get a kick out of them too!

Flashback

WAY back in February of 2007 David and I got engaged in Disneyland. My whole family was there and we took a ton of pictures. David and I were looking through some pictures and its so funny to flashback to those days. We were soooooo in love. Like the obnoxious in love. Like the kissing in public all the time in love. We're in love now don't take that the wrong way but we were THAT annoying couple back then. Here are some great pictures...
David proposed at the wishing well. I was pretty surprised. It was pretty darlingI saved the best for last. We're in the back row. Yes David and I are making out. My poor mother..what did she do to deserve that?

ipod playlist

I flew to California by myself to meet my family there. It was my first time flying by myself (yes I'm a big girl) and I was kinda nervous. The night before I had David get me some new music so I would be able to put my hood up and ignore everyone around me at the airport and on the plane. I got a lot of good new artists but for some reason I really only wanted to listen to the same 5 songs over and over again. Here is the playlist :
1. Baby--Justin Bieber and Ludacris
I'm totally not embarrassed about LOVING this song! On my ipod the play count is like 40 just from that weekend. OBSESSED
2. Cupid Shuffle--Cupid
This is the song I put on my blog that I danced to at Catherine's wedding. I had a very hard time not dancing with the stranger I sat next to on the plane. I really had to exercise some self control. When I got to Cali we went straight to Disneyland so I had my ipod in my purse. I let Hunter (3 1/2 yrs old) listen to the Cupid Shuffle with me. Later that night I was singing to myself or something and Hunter started singing along with me. The whole trip he'd say "Liz whats your song again?" Then he sing the whole thing with me! My favorite part was when he'd sing "Now walk it by yourself, now walk it by yourself"! So cute :]
3. Blah Blah Blah--Ke$ha
She's so classy. I can't help but listen to this song over and over.
4. Tic Tok--Ke$ha
Refer to #3
5. Carryout--Timbaland and Justin Timberlake
I really like the Justin Timberlake part of this song. Most of all I like this song because its last and it means I get to listen to Baby again in just a minute.

Happiest place on earth :]

I love Disneyland. I've been there every year (sometimes up to 4 times a year) since I was like 5. I guess you could say I'm a Disney brat! My mom, Aunt Chris, Cousin Teresa, and her son Hunter just got back from a fun trip to Disneyland. It was Hunter's first time at Disneyland. So fun to watch him take it all in! He loved it, hated waiting, but loved almost all the rides. The height limit on the majority of the rides is 40in. Hunter is 41in and fearless so he tried everything he could. The only things he didn't like were the Tower of Terror (or the "scary elevator") and Space Mountain because it was dark. His favorite ride was Soarin over California (or the swing). Here are some pics of the fun trip :]
This Goofy was hilarious. Teresa and Hunter had just finished taking their picture with him and I was walking up with my mom. Goofy starts dancing like a total spaz and I was like "Hey, that's how I dance!!" So of course I found a kindred spirit and started dancing with him. We shook our tail feathers for a minute and then took this picture

OBSESSED!

At the wedding last Friday night we did a little line dance thing called the cupid shuffle. I may or may not have had it stuck in my head ever since then. David's family was up at our house this last weekend and I was trying to get them to dance to it with me. Haha my sister-in-law did for a minute but I danced pretty much all by myself for the whole 4 minute song :]. Not embarrassed at all by the way. We went to David's aunt's house for dinner Sunday night and she danced with me in her kitchen. Twice. Bless Wendy's heart. Love her. I hope you love it as much as me..or at least enough to dance by yourself wherever you are

Mr and Mrs Kemp

One of my best friends since I was a little kid Catherine got married yesterday to Michael Kemp! I loved being a part of her gorgeous wedding. I went to her sealing at the temple, took pictures outside in the FREEZING wind, spent the entire night at cactus and tropicals, and danced for 2 hours straight last night. I loved every minute of it! My body hurts today because of the intense dancing and if I didn't lose 24 pounds last night I'm going to be pissed! I didn't take many pictures since I was in a lot of them but here are a couple of us at her reception :] Her bridal shower was last weekend. It was so fun to see the girls I grew up with all together again. Michael came over for the last little bit so they could play the "do you know each other well enough for all of us to approve of this marriage" game. I think they passed! This is me telling Catherine to stop making that face and smile or I'll kill her What is Catherine's face in this picture? Oh well, it is so "us"
